daily stuff

I don't know what's been going on with the non-posting mode I've been in. I have perused your posts and commented here and there but haven't taken the time to put together a coherent sentence of two of my own. I've been using some of the spare time continuing on the basement renovation. All the recessed lighting for the main space is in and wired. Yay for that. There's still more electric to do in other areas but later for that. First section of division with doors to the work space/studio, recessed area for fridge with cabinets above, and closet area for Wendy's miscellaneous collections of this and that is complete except for a bit more trim.

On the outside areas, I managed to clear all the dead vegetation from flower beds and garden, gathering and storing some seeds for next year. Repaired a crack in the garage masonry (we'll see how that weathers the changing temps through winter and next spring). Put up some holiday outdoor decoration, nothing gaudy or lighted, just enough to say "we know it's the holiday season... enjoy!). The tree inside has been decorated (it does have lights, all clear bulbs) and various other holiday decor has been scattered about the home. Gifts for out of state relatives have been purchased and today's list of 'what to do' includes wrapping them for shipping. My daughter, her husband and their 3 year old son will be visiting for a long New Year's Eve weekend (Th-M) and the bedroom where we intend to accommodate them is one of those rooms which becomes more of a walk-in closet over time. There's much clean out to do in the next week or so. It seems to take a good reason, like visitors, to drive us to straighten up mode.

The bike battery is out and on trickle charge with the bike tucked away in the garage for winter. Yup, there have been a few warm riding days since but, that's life; if I hadn't winterized and put away, it would surely have been icy with loads of snow by now. I do try to plan things but I've slowly grown to be willing to accept things as they turn out. I have no intention of drifting off into a philosophical wandering now, so I'll just mention gratitude along with the acceptance and bid adieu for now.

Sweet updated. It made me feel cozy. It's good to putter and get things done. The retired life sounds like a pretty nice deal.
