lawnmowers and cats

it's raining--not a surprise, I knew it was supposed to rain, that's why I went out to cut the grass yesterday, to beat the rain--but the lawnmower finally died--I've been nursing it along for a couple of years now--takes more energy to start the damn thing than it does to mow the lawn (once, and if, it finally starts)--well, I've given up--cleaned the plug, tried various starting techniques but it just sits there, gives a short fart from time to time, but the process has gotten to the point where I think I'd have more luck starting a rock to cut the grass--so I perused the ads this morning looking for lawnmowers--this damn thing is, after all, somewhere between 7 and 10 years old -- my only regret at this point is that I don't have a 10 pound sledge to beat the shit out of it before leaving it for the trash pickup -- pissed at it? ummm a little...is aggressive tendencies toward inanimate objects a cause for worry? nah!

we tried out the kitty harness and tie out Thursday--took Willow a while to get used to the idea that she was actually outside in the grass but wasn't too happy with the idea that she couldn't go further than the tether...poor kitty :( -- at one point, she climbed up on the glider then later thought she could just jump off the back...well, she could, and did, except the tether wasn't quite long enough to allow her to reach the ground :) -- so there she was, one very startled cat, hanging 6" off the ground -- ah good times -- cats seem to be truly surprised when the world doesn't work quite the way they want it to

this morning I was flopped on the bed talking with Wendy as she got ready to go out on an interview -- Willow had also jumped up on the bed, then suddenly made one of her sideways leaps and landed on my face -- I'm convinced she was trying to suck my breath, wanting to get even for laughing at her swinging from the tether the other day -- Wendy thinks she just didn't notice me there when she made her lunge...hah! is the cat blind? should we get her a cane and some shades?
